"As a fairly new member to the pipe smoking community, I wanted to
share an experience I recently had.
I recently ordered several tins of tobacco from smokingpipes.com. I
received my shipment, and was very disheartened to find my package
completely destroyed and half-heartedly taped together. A portion of
my Solani 633 tin was hanging out of the side of the shipping
package. I opened the package and found that I was missing 1 tin of
tobacco, and that another tin (the Solani) was busted opened with the
seal broken. I called the customer service number provided on my
invoice. This is where my experience turns for the better.
My call was answered very quickly (not the norm for 800 numbers), and
I explained to the rep my situation. I told him it was obviously the
fault of the shipping company (who I will not name, but it was not
FEDEX), and not the fault of smokingpipes.com. I asked him if I
needed to contact said shipping company, or if I needed to send the
package and its contacts back for a new delivery. The rep told me not
to worry, they would just ship me a new tin of Solani, and a
replacement tin for the tobacco that was lost in the mishap. I again
asked if I needed to return anything. His reply was one of true
customer service. He told me that I could keep what I had, and "a
couple more gifts" would arrive in a few days. Smokingpipes.com
replaced 2 tins of tobacco for me. He said they like to take care of
their customers. It cost me nothing. I don't have to return
anything. The rep said that it didn't matter that the shipping mishap
was the fault of someone else. He said regardless of who was at
fault, smokingpipes.com would make it right.
Great customer service. I couldn't ask for more. Again, as a
newcomer to pipe smoking, I certainly didn't expect anything like
this. I strongly urge anyone who reads this post to consider doing
business with smokingpipes.com. Not only are their prices some of the
best around, but their customer service is far and above anything most
of us are used to. Kudos to them, and to the rest of you, happy
smoking."
